On April 4th, the China Meteorological Administration released the 2022 Annual Report on Wind and Solar Energy Resources in China, providing a comprehensive analysis of the country's wind and solar energy resources in 2022 and their changes compared to the average resources over the past 10 and 30 years. The report indicates that in 2022, the country’s annual wind energy resources were slightly below the normal level, with an average annual wind speed at a height of 10 m being 0.82% lower than the average level over the past decade, the wind energy resources at a height of 70 m in Chongqing, Fujian, Hubei, and Jilin being relatively favorable compared to the past 10 years, and the wind energy resources in Shanghai, Hebei, Yunnan, Jiangsu, Shandong, Hainan, Ningxia, Beijing, and other regions being relatively inferior compared to the past 10 years.
In 2022, the country’s solar energy resources were in favorable annual wind conditions, with the total average annual horizontal solar irradiance of approximately 1,563.4 kWh/㎡, the highest in nearly 30 years (1992-2021). The total annual irradiance on the optimal inclined surface for photovoltaic power generation was approximately 1,815.8 kWh/㎡, which was higher than both the average values over the 10 and 30 years.
